About Us

The Mooloolaba Canal Cruise is a small, family run business, that has been doing its
Harbour, River and Canal Cruises in Mooloolaba now for over 22 years.

We take great pride in giving our passengers an unforgettable experience as they see all the things you cant see from the road.

It is considered the “must do” item for any visit to the Sunshine Coast.

The vessel used to do these cruises is called The M.V Mudjimba and it is a historic timber boat that started out working as a Brisbane Cross River Ferry.

It was built in 1963 and was originally called the “John McMaster”.

It is a solid timber boat that uses oak planking on the hull and  bunya pine for the planking above the waterline as it is more flexible

It spent most of its life as a Brisbane River ferry doing the cross river run from the suburbs of Hamilton to the Apollo Street wharf in Bulimba.

In 1990, the vessel was taken out of service by the Brisbane City Council and sold.
It was brought up to Mooloolaba by ocean and spent many months being renovated and modified for doing the canal cruises.

It started doing its cruises from The Mooloolaba Wharf later that year and has been taking passengers around the Mooloolah Harbour, River and Kawana Canals now for 26 years.

Without a doubt, it is the longest operating cruise boat on the Sunshine Coast and a Genuine Mooloolaba icon.
